Back for their third Nippertown concert of the year, the Dave Matthews Band served up old favorites and a few surprises on Friday night when they took the stage at the Times Union Center in Albany.

Saxophonist Sam Kininger – who plays with trumpeter Rashawn Ross in the band Lettuce – sat in with DMB for a pair of old faves – “What Would You Say” and “Jimi Thing.”

And opening act the Punch Brothers were seemingly in two places at once on Friday night. Not only did mandolin master Chris Thile and his band fire up an impressive prog-bluegrass set to open the show at the Times Union Center, but they could also be seen later that same night jamming with Steve Martin on “Late Night with David Letterman.”
