Peter Case
Intrepid Nippertown.com contributor Jason Lehr ventured forth to Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany on Friday evening to check out singer-songwriter Peter Case, and here’s what he found:
It was a great show. I hadn’t heard of Peter Case before reading about the show on Nippertown.com, but I checked out some of his stuff before the show and was impressed.
He played some older stuff, some songs from “Wig!” and a few covers. He has an Elvis Costello-meets-Steve Earle vibe going on, which I really liked. He had just picked up Brian Goodman on drums that day so they were a little loose, but it was certainly manageable.
Ashley Pond was impressive, too. I hadn’t seen her live before, and I was really impressed. She was by herself, so I’m really looking forward to seeing her in front of a band – not that it was a disappointment to see her alone. I’d just like to see how her voice blends with an ensemble.
