They’re quite the odd couple, but they make some wonderful music together.
Wreckless Eric was the loosest of the loose cannons back in the early glory days of Stiff Records, blurring the line between pub rock and punk.
Amy Rigby was a member of NYC trio the Shams, who later launched a string of fabulous solo records with “Diary of a Mod Housewife.”
Together, the husband-and-wife team of Wreckless Eric and Amy Rigby have made two fine albums, including the brand new “Two-Way Family Favourites,” a knock-out all-covers disc that finds them digging into the songbags of such folks as Tom Petty, Pete Townshend, the Byrds, the Flamin Groovies and, yes, even ABBA.
And together, they’ll be sharing the stage at Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany at 8pm on Tuesday (November 9). Tix are $10.
BUT WAIT…We’re giving away a pair of FREE TIX to see the show. To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winner will be selected at random and notified on Tuesday morning. Good luck!
AND WHILE YOU’RE AT IT… Nippertown.com has some other contests running right now, too. Go here to enter to win a copy of “Wig!,” the new CD from fab singer-songwriter-bluesman Peter Case, who’s playing at Valentine’s on Friday night. And go here to win a pair of tix to see former Men at Work frontman Colin Hay on Friday night at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in a benefit concert for the Capital Region Coalition to End Homelessness. Do it now! Congratulations, Scott. C.!
