Richard Merkin: Paintings and Drawings, an exhibit of vivid, Modernist works by the late painter and illustrator, opens Saturday, November 6 at Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson. The cartoonish works, rendered in a sure hand, reflect Merkin’s fascination with pop culture, baseball and vintage pornography. (Bonus trivia: Merkin appeared on the cover of the Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” in between Fred Astaire and a Vegas showgirl.)

Concurrently, the backroom hosts an exhibit of both large and small abstract paintings by Meg Lipke.

An opening reception is slated for Saturday November 6, 2010 from 6-8pm. The exhibit runs through December 12.
