Win FREE TIX to Railbird/Cuddle Magic @ Indie 8th Step, 10/23/10

October 20th, 2010, 2:01 pm by Sara

Last month, the venerable Eighth Step at Proctors tried something different when it launched the Indie 8th Step, a new series of concerts spotlighting adventurous independent rock bands.

The opening volley of the series featured a simply magnificent performance by Lost in the Trees (read our review). Opening the show was Philadelphia/NYC trio Cuddle Magic with a special guest appearance by Sarah Pedinotti of Railbird.

Post continues below...

Well, Pedinotti is returning to the Indie 8th Step on Saturday night – this time with Railbird. And Cuddle Magic is returning, too – not as a trio, but this time with their full 10-member line-up. Expect to hear some brilliant musical cross-pollination between the bands. And you can bet that Ben Davis will be a bit tuckered out at the end of the evening – he plays in both bands.

Add the quirky but always fascinating mandolinist, loop-master and musical free-thinker Matthew Carefully to the musical mix, and you’ve got a really exciting night of music.

The Indie 8th Step show at the Eighth Step at Proctors in Schenectady begins at 7:30pm on Saturday, featuring Railbird, Cuddle Magic and Matthew Carefully. Tix are $12 in advance; $15 at the door.

BUT WAIT… We’re giving away a pair of FREE TIX to the Indie 8th Step show. To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winner will be selected at random and notified on Friday. Good luck! You know what? Sometimes there are happy endings: the random number generator has spoken, and congratulations to Rosemary! (We had our fingers crossed for ya too.)

Oh, a frog in the throat is emerging as I write this…thanks so much! To Nippertown and of course Andrew~ whom I do not know nor have met. It has been a horrendous week! Son living with father now and divorce BS is a killer~one more employment rejection letter and -well-had enough this week-just need some good distractions. I am confident Railbird and Cuddle Magic will do it.
But I really just need the one ticket! Thanks so much again!

  12. Yay for Rosemary! Rosemary, if you can swing it, be sure to catch Matthew Carefully too.

Good for you, Rosemary! You should get out more–might I suggest Wreckless Eric and Amy Rigby at Valentine’s on 11/9 or maybe the Chandler Travis Philharmonic at the Linda Auditorium on Saturday 11/20. (All the cool kids will be there!)
