The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield is hosting an intriguing concert titled “Open Wings, Broken Strings” at 8pm on Friday. The concert is a triple bill of solo acoustic singer-songwriters: Eddie Kowalczyk (of Live), Art Alexakis (Everclear) and Leigh Nash (Sixpence None The Richer). Tix are $25, $45. Also at the Colonial, the all-star Boston Legends (led by Billy Squier and J. Geils) take the stage on Friday, November 19. Ernie & the Automatics open, and tix are priced at $31, $41, $48, $60.

Hasidic Jewish reggae star Matisyahu bring his Festival of Light tour to Northern Lights in Clifton Park at 9pm on Wednesday, December 1 to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah. Tix are $23 in advance; $25 on the day of the show.

Down in Hudson, Club Helsinki Hudson has been quietly beefing up its concert calendar. Newly added shows include jazz/hip-hop trumpeter Igmar Thomas and his band the Cypher at 9pm on Friday; Mindy Smith at 9pm Friday, November 5 ($20); a benefit for the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary featuring Elvis Perkins and Tracy Bonham on Friday, November 12 ($TBA); Girlyman at 8pm on Sunday, November 14 ($15); and a benefit for ArtforAnimals featuring Laurie Anderson, her piano-playing pet dog Lolabelle, NYC Subway Girl and Joy Askew on Friday, November 19 (6:30pm cocktail reception; 8:30pm concert. $150).

The amazing British acoustic guitarist James Blackshaw unleashes his fretboard fireworks at the very intimate Spring Street Gallery in Saratoga Springs at 7:30pm on Thursday, November 11. Ambient music group Mountains opens the show. Tix are $10.

Speaking of guitar heroes, slash ‘n’ burn bluesman Johnny Winter leads the Johnny Winter Band into the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Saturday, January 29. Reserved seats are $35 & $45; general admission is $25.

The Spampinato Brothers – featuring Joey and Johnny Spampinato (also known as half of NRBQ) – will be rollicking at the Ale House in Troy at 8pm on Sunday, November 14. Tix are $20.

Grammy Award-winning jazz trombonist Luis Bonilla – who played with the SFJAZZ Collective at The Egg just last week – leads his own quintet into the Greenville High School Auditorium in Greenville at 7:30pm on Saturday, October 30 in celebration of the band’s new CD, “Twilight” on the Planet Arts label. Opening the show will be the Mike Benedict Band. Tix are $10; seniors $7; students $5.

Sold out: The Joan Baez concert at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy at 8pm on Tuesday (October 26) is now officially sold out … The Waken Baken Tour featuring Wiz Khalifa and Big K.R.I.T. at Northern Lights in Clifton Park on Sunday, November 14, is now officially sold out.
