If you’re a fan of guitars, you probably stopped by the Capital Region Guitar Show in Saratoga Springs over the weekend. And maybe you managed to get yourself to Caffe Lena on Sunday evening to catch the performance by flatpicking phenom David Grier.
But there’s still more great fretboard fireworks on tap this week…
Acoustic guitar master Brooks Williams was born in Statesboro, Georgia, and he’s never been able to shake off those “Statesboro Blues” – thankfully.
The virtuoso roots-blues-Americana guitarist rolls into town on Wednesday in support of his recently released 17th album, the foot-stompin’ “Baby O!,” which effortlessly shifts gears from Son House’s “Grinnin’ in Your Face” to Williams’ own tribute to the nearly forgotten New Orleans guitar great “Frank Delandry.”
“A consummate artist, Williams ranks among America’s musical treasures,” says Dirty Linen. Meanwhile, Guitar Player hails his playing as “harmonically sophisticated and breathtakingly beautiful.”
Brooks Williams steps into the spotlight at The Linda in Albany at 8pm on Wednesday, and if you love the guitar, you’re not gonna want to miss this one. Tix are $18.
BUT WAIT… We’re giving away a pair of FREE TIX to the Brooks Williams concert. To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winner will be selected at random and notified on Wednesday.. Congratuations, Russ!
