Be Here Now: “Imagine” @ the Eighth Step at Proctors, 10/15/10

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and in conjunction with the efforts, the Eighth Step @ Proctors is hosting “Imagine,” a special benefit concert on Friday night.

Which seems, unfortunately, all too appropriate since Schenectady County has the highest rate of domestic violence calls in New York State.

Headlining the concert will be Bethany & Rufus, a dynamic duo featuring vocalist Bethany Yarrow (the daughter of Peter, Paul & Mary’s Peter Yarrow) and her musical compatriot-cellist Rufus Cappadocia. Also performing on the bill will be New England singer-songwriter Lui Collins and Nippertown’s own eclectic roots-music masters Annie & the Hedonists.

The “Imagine” concert takes place at the Eighth Step at Proctors’ GE Theatre in Schenectady at 7:30pm on Friday (October 15). Tix are are $25 and $35, with proceeds going to the Schenectady YWCA and other regional organizations working to change public tolerance of domestic abuse in its various forms: child abuse, elder abuse, spousal abuse and others.
