The Nippertown music scene is, as they say, in a constant state of flux. Things change pretty fast, but there have always been a few constants that act as anchors. For example, if it’s Sunday evening, you can always find premier jazz saxman Brian Patneaude at Justin’s in Albany. Right?
Well, not much longer…
After more than eight years of leading an always stellar quartet each and every Sunday night on the bandstand at Justin’s, the long-standing weekly residency is coming to an end this month.
“Having a weekly forum to perform jazz music is an incredibly rare occurrence these days, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had this opportunity for so long,” says Brian Patneaude. “It’s been a great run, and I am eternally grateful to Victoria Cipollari, John DeJohn, Adrian Cohen, Joe Palma and everyone else involved with Justin’s jazz program over the years.”
The saxophonist will be performing at Justin’s at 9pm on the next three Sunday nights with a variety of quartet lineups, culminating with a quintet performance on the final night of the residency, Sunday, October 24.
Here’s the schedule:
Sunday, October 10, 9pm: Featuring pianist Rob Lindquist, bassist Mike Parker and drummer Jeff Siegel
Sunday, October 17, 9pm: Featuring pianist David Caldwell-Mason, bassist Mike DelPrete and drummer Danny Whelchel
Sunday, October 24, 9pm: Featuring guitarist George Muscatello, pianist David Caldwell-Mason, bassist Mike Parker and drummer Danny Whelchel
