Win FREE TIX to See JP, Chrissie & the Fairground Boys @ Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, 10/6/10

Yeah, that’s Chrissie, alright. Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. One of the most sultry, uncompromising, enduring voices in rock & roll.

Post continues below...

Over the years, we’ve seen Chrissie with the Pretenders playing at all sorts of venues around Nippertown, from the big (Saratoga Performing Arts Center) to the small (the long-gone but fondly remembered J.B. Scott’s), but we’ve never seen her like this.

She’s teamed up with Welsh rocker J.P. Jones, and together they recorded their brand new debut album, “Fidelity!” – the first album that Chrissie has ever recorded outside of the Pretenders.

JP, Chrissie & the Fairground Boys are heading into the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy at 8pm on Wednesday, October 6. Opening the show is singer-songwriter Amy Correia in support of her new album, “You Go Your Way.” Tix are $29 and $35.

But guess what?!? We have a pair of tickets for this show that we’re going to give away for FREE to a lucky Nippertown reader. How to enter? It’s simple – just leave a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winner will be selected at random and notified on Tuesday. Good luck!. The Random Number Generator has spoken: congratulations to Robert M!

I have been enjoying the new CD for a week or two now. I don’t think I have seen her since they ripped it up at JB Scotts… many years ago was that?

As a maturing woman, what a kick it would be to see Chrissie with her new younger love making great music together. I’m sure she’ll be rocking the house and I would love be there ~welcoming them to my hometown!
She is one of my all time favorite female rockers and I would love for my 17 year old son to see what she does magnificintly with me!
These free tickets would make my fall And bring my son closer to thinking how cool his mom is~maybe open his eyes a bit! His ears are keen and he wants to work in the music industry so he must see Chrissie’s power. Femaile rockers knock off his socks!!!

  8. Dave says:

Should be a wonderful show! Hope to be there!

  9. Brian says:

Saw The Pretenders at the Palace last time they were through. Great times.

  12. James says:

The last time I saw Chrissie was in midtown Manhattan 20+ years ago. We were standing in line at a book signing by Ali. She was several people behind me (with Vernon Reid of Living Colour). Once they got noticed, they were taken to the front of the line. Being a celeb has it’s perks!

  13. Greg says:

The Pretenders were at JB Scott’s in March 1980. Here are a few other remembrances of that night:

  14. Shawn says:

I would happily take 2 free tickets!

  15. Richard Brody says:

I saw both of the shows that The Pretenders did in 1980 at JB Scott’s – outstanding. Please enter me in the contest.

  16. Alan G. says:

The Pretenders were at JB Scott’s on two separate occasions. I missed them the first time, but saw them when they returned on August 25, 1980. I’m looking at my 30 year old ticket stub as I type this. The 80’s were such a great decade for concerts!

  17. Theresa says:

    Maybe me? Thanks!

  18. TL says:

Just watched a DVD of musical performances taken form the show ‘Fridays”. Great stuff that includes the Clash. The Jam, Graham Parker. Split Enz and yes, the Pretenders. Made me remember how great they were back then. Chrissie looked amazing. Saw them at both J.B.’s and later at the Palace…

  19. Rosemary Brennan says:

PLEASE pick me-my son is with me -not always though. He would love to see this woman’s sultry voice and see her pick her guitar strings with somewhat abandon…These tickets cost too much for me ~underemployed teacher who wants to teach my son through experience. I’m sure this concert will be memorable for him and me both.

  20. LP says:

Thanks for the memories Greg….those were some heady days back then.

  21. Robert M says:

For sure, I was there way back in the JB days for that show

But I look forward to hearing her new stuff now

Such is the mark of a great artist — always exploring new paths

    Sign me up!

  22. Liz says:

Sounds like it will be a great concert!

  23. Chris Shepherd says:

First heard of the group via Amazon “free song of the day”. Would love to see them in the Music Hall’s setting.

  24. Donna says:

I’ll go “If You Let Me”

  25. Bob Rosinsky says:
