Rogers describes his music as “real guitar for real guitar nuts,” and he lives up to his promise on the upcoming Ben Rogers’ Instrumental Asylum album, “Instrumentally Disturbed, ” which is slated for release next month.
On the album, the Melbourne guitar hero features a dizzying mix of the band’s latest original tunes, as well as such nuggets as a frantic garage-rockin’ rendition of “Tell Him” (originally by the Exciters), a fuzzed-out re-invention of Django Reinhardt’s “Anouman” and his own unique spin on the classic “La Mer” (perhaps better known as the old Bobby Darin hit, “Beyond the Sea”).
Nippertown’s own veteran drum master Al Kash (of Folding Sky) makes a guest appearance on the album – and quite likely at the Beat Shop as well.
Admission to Beatfest is free; donations will be gratefully accepted for the St. Augustine’s Food Bank.
