Taking inspiration from folk and soul music, the sublime singer-songwriter directs his music with a spirit and presence rooted in American tradition.
MARTIN SEXTON: Saturday, November 13, 8pm, $34.50, Swyer Theatre
With his spirited guitar picking and soulful vocals, an evening with Martin Sexton is like a cross-country tour of the American musical vernacular.
SAVION GLOVER, DANIEL BERNARD ROUMAIN: Friday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve), 8pm, $39.50, $34.50, Hart Theatre
The international tap dance sensation leads a company of hoofers, singers and a live funk band in the world premiere of “Savion Glover’s ALL FuNKD’ UP.” Hip-hop violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain – aka, DBR – opens the concert with his own ensemble performing works from his latest recording “Woodbox Beats & Balladry.” A post-performance New Year’s reception with the artists, which will include champagne, refreshments and dancing will also be held. A limited number of tickets at $75 include the performance and reception.
