Yes, yes, we know. It’s not even Labor Day yet.
But folks in New England take their leaf-peeping mighty serious, and the Bible of New England, Yankee Magazine, has gone out on a limb to list the Top 25 Leaf-Peeping Towns in its current issue, which hits newsstands today.
And Williamstown, Massachusetts – which we proudly claim as part of greater Nippertown – makes the cut, landing at the No. 4 spot.
How did the editors come up with their ranking system?
“We chose 14 categories we felt best defined a great fall outing: color, scenery, vistas, water reflections, drives, hikes, culture, farmers market, orchards, parks, covered bridges, being away from crowds, shopping, food and lodging,” according to the magazine’s website.
So if you getting ready to plan a fall outing in New England, here are the Top Ten Towns to Visit, according to Yankee Magazine:
1. Kent, Connecticutt
2. Bethel, Maine
3. Manchester, Vermont
4. Williamstown, Massachusetts
5. Middlebury, Vermont
6. (tie) Camden, Maine
8. Conway/North Conway, New Hampshire
9. Sandwich, New Hampshire
10. Rangeley, Maine
