Classic Films @ the Palace Theatre

Big movies on the big screen.

The Palace Theatre in Albany has announced the schedule for its upcoming 2010-2011 Classic Movie Series. The theater is screening 18 movies in all with classic movie trailers and cartoons running before each feature film.

The ticket price for each movie is $5; children $3. You can also purchase a season pass to the entire film series for just $45. Tickets and passes are currently on sale.

The screenings take place at 7pm on Mondays unless otherwise noted. Here’s the line-up:

September 20: “Viva Las Vegas” (1964) starring Elvis Presley, Ann-Margret
October 4: “North by Northwest” (1959) directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint
October 25: “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (1975) interactive film starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon with a live shadow cast
November 22: “A Streetcar Named Desire” (1951) starring Marlon Brando, Vivian Leigh, Kim Hunter, Karl Malden
November 29: “Bonnie and Clyde” (1967) starring Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway
December 13: 3 Stooges Film Festival (various years) “Disorder in the Court,” “False Alarms,” “The Hot Scots,” “Dizzy Doctors,” “Crime on Their Hands” and “Slippery Silks” starring Curly, Larry & Moe (and sometimes Shemp)
Friday, December 17, 7pm: “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946) directed by Frank Capra and starring James Stewart
December 20: “A Christmas Story” (1983) starring Peter Billingsley
January 10: “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” (1982) directed by Steven Speilberg and starring Henry Thomas, Drew Barrymore
January 24: “Chinatown” (1974) directed by Roman Polanski and starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway
February 14: “Dirty Dancing” (1987) starring Jennifer Grey, Patrick Swayze
February 28: “The Defiant Ones” (1958), starring Tony Curtis, Sidney Poitier
March 14: “Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid” (1969) starring Paul Newman, Robert Redford
