The Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary in Willow is hosting an acoustic benefit concert on Saturday, and not only is the event for a good cause, but the music should be pretty interesting, too.
Headlining the bash is the Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger. Never heard of them? Well, the GOASTT is the new project by Sean Lennon and his musical partner and girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhl. Their first album “Acoustic Sessions” is set for release on Tuesday, October 26 on the Chimera Music label. Check out music samples here.
Opening for the GOASTT will be Undersea Poem, followed by Woodstock locals Jonathan Donahue (Mercury Rev) and Amy Helm (Levon Helm’s band and Ollabelle) performing as a duo called Love Is For The Birds.
The rain or shine concert will be held on an open lawn at the Sanctuary in Willow (directions are here). Guests are encouraged to bring reasonably-sized blankets and/or lawn chairs. Seating will be first come, first served. Please, no food or beverages. Drinks and popcorn will be available at the show with proceeds benefiting the Sanctuary, so please plan to eat your evening meal either before or afterward. And no dogs, please.
The performance takes place on Saturday (August 21). Gates open at 5pm; show at 6pm. General admission tickets are $30 in advance; $40 at the gate. Children under 12 are free.
Proceeds from the concert will go directly to the charitable work of Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary and the care of over 200 formerly abused, abandoned and discarded farm animals.
