8/10/10: Today’s Tips: Tuesday

MUSIC: Public Enemy @ Northern Lights, Clifton Park. The most influential – and controversial – rap group of the late ’80s, Chuck D and his crew simply re-wrote the rules of hip-hop. With special guests Kendo the Almost Famous, Has-Lo, Propaganda Giant Gorilla Dog Thing and more. Doors at 7:30pm; show at 8:15pm. $25.

Tonight is opening night; the show runs through Sunday. 8pm. $20, $30, $40, $60 & $75.

MUSIC: Jackie Greene @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. He’s been a member of Phil Lesh & Friends. He’s toured as the opening act for blues giants such as B.B. King and Buddy Guy. And he’s released a half albums of his own – and he’s not even 30 years old yet. The singer-songwriter-guitar hero-keyboardist-mandolinist is rolling into Woodstock tonight in support of his bran-new album, “Till the Light Comes.” With Sean Schenker & Jason Sarubbi (of the Trapps). 9pm. $20.

MUSIC: Naio @ Upstate Artists Guild, Albany. More audio experiments from Sailing Records recording artists who churn out pyschedelic tribal drone influenced by near eastern melodies and polyrhythms. With Moondune and Ghoul Poon. 8pm. Donations.
