The Philadelphia Orchestra continues its opening week at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center at 8pm on Friday with a special program featuring two-time Emmy Award-winning actor and star of “30 Rock” Alec Baldwin, narrating Prokofiev’s ever-popular “Peter and the Wolf.”
Pianist Kirill Gerstein will also be featured in Liszt’s “Piano Concerto No. 2. With Charles Dutoit conducting, the orchestra will round out Friday’s program with Glinka’s “Overture to Ruslan and Lyudmila,” as well as Stravinsky’s classic “The Firebird.”
It’s a wonderful, fun-for-the-whole-family evening of music, and free children’s workshops – as well as balloon artists, games and magicians – will be offered on the lawn beginning at 6pm. Pianist Gerstein will also present a pre-performance talk at the Hall of Springs beginning at 7pm ($5).
