But probably not.
Lots and lots and lots of folks were turned away empty-handed from the ticket distribution centers on Friday – where the supplies of free tickets were depleted even before 10am, when they were scheduled to be handed out. (Read Steve Barnes’ report on The Times Union’s Creative Capital blog.)
But all is not lost, ye Angelina Jolie fans…
Let’s do the math. On Friday, 1,200 tickets were given away at the Albany Visitors Center (600 tix), the Albany City Hall (400) and the Palace Theatre (200).
The Palace’s seating capacity is 2,844 – that’s 1,541 seats downstairs and another 1,303 in the balcony.
Which means that there could still possibly be 1,644 tickets available to be grabbed up at the Palace Theatre box office beginning at 10am today. Of, course, that’s a doubtful tally, as tickets have surely been set aside for local politicians, businesses and other honchos.
Still, the odds are good that more tickets will be given away today – available only at the Palace box office – than were handed out on Friday.
Of course, if you’re not already standing in line on Clinton Avenue, you might be out of luck again…
And if that’s the case, well, the movie opens nationwide on Friday, July 23 – which means that the day after the Palace screening, you can go to your local movie theater, buy a ticket, and watch the same movie in a considerably more intimate setting.
