The The New York City Ballet continues its summer residency at SPAC SPAC
and we have a pair of lawn tickets for Friday’s Almost-All-American show (all except for that Mozart fellow) that we’re going to give away to a lucky Nippertown reader.
Friday’s program features four ballets:
- Fancy Free: A young Jerome Robbins pairs up with with the still unknown Leonard Bernstein to create this tale of three sailors on a hot summer night, performing a dance-off to impress the ladies.
- Red Angels: a modern, abstract ballet that shows off the dancers’ speed and athleticism. Choreography by Ulysses Dove, set to “Maxwell’s Demon,” a work by Richard Einhorn.
- Barber Violin Concerto: Two pairs of dancers, one classical and one modern, are a study in contrasts as they engage in a little pas de deux-swapping. Choreography by Peter Martins with music by Samuel Barber.
- Divertimento No. 15 Music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, choreographed by George Balanchine.
Ticket prices start at $18 for lawn tix; inside seating ranges from $26 – $72.50. The “GE Kids in Free” promotion entitles children 12 and under to free lawn admission for classical performances (excluding the Gala and American Girl Night); Citizens Bank’s Student Discount entitles middle school, high school and college students to lawn admission for just $10.
To enter the drawing for FREE lawn tickets, just leave a comment below telling us your favorite way to beat this pesky little heatwave. Be sure to enter a working email (we won’t publish it), so we can notify you if you win. We’ll draw a name at random and announce the winner on Friday morning. . Congratulations, Vonda! Everyone else – we’ll have more giveaways next week.
