MUSIC: George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic @ Northern Lights, Clifton Park. The mothership has landed. Fans have been waiting a long time – the show was originally slated for February, but was postponed due to a snowstorm – but the Atomic Dog is finally here. Free your mind, and your ass will follow… With reggae masters Steel Pulse. 9pm. $30.

DANCE: New York City Ballet @ Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. Tonight’s dances include “La Source,” “Fancy Free” and “Who Cares?” Music by Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, more. 8pm. $18-$72.50.

MUSIC: The Town Pants @ Alive at 5 in Riverfront Park, Albany. Yes, it’s Irish Music Night at Alive at Five, traditionally one of the summer’s biggest shows. With NYC’s own Celtic punksters the Ruffians. 5pm. Free.

OPERA: “Carmen” @ SPAC’s Spa Little Theater, Saratoga Springs. It’s opening night for Lake George Opera, who are presenting Bizet’s classic tale of love, jealousy and revenge. 7:30pm. $45-80.

READING: Caryl Phillips and Campbell McGrath @ Davis Auditorium in Palamountain Hall, Skidmore College, North Broadway, Saratoga Springs. The NYS Summer Writers Institute continues with a fiction and poetry reading by Phillips (“A Distant Shore,” “The Nature of Blood”) and McGrath (“American Noise”). 8pm. Free.

MUSIC: The Lee Boys @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. The three brothers – Alvin, Derrick and Keith Lee – lead one of America’s finest sacred steel bands as they filter pedal steel guitar through gospel music with a hard-driving blues backbeat. 8pm. $15.
