7/6/10: Today’s Tips: Tuesday

DANCE: The New York City Ballet @ the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. It’s opening night at the ballet with an All American program featuring “Fancy Free” with music by Leonard Bernstein and choreography by Jerome Robbins. Pre-show talk by Peter Martins at 7pm. MUSIC: Bill Charlap and Renee Rosnes @ the Zankel Music Center, Skidmore College, North Broadway, Saratoga Springs. 8pm. Free. The husband-and-wife jazz piano duo offer an evening of sparkling duets from their new album, “Double Portrait.” 8pm. Free.

THEATER: “Annie Get Your Gun” @ Park Playhouse, Washington Park, Albany. It’s opening night in Washington Park, too. Michael LoPorto directs Irving Berlin’s hit musical starring Molly McGrath as the sharp shooting Annie Oakley. Remember – “There’s No Business Like Show Business.” 8pm. MUSIC: Red Molly @ the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, Williamstown. Out on the lawn, it’s an evening of bluegrass and olt-timey country music from Abbie Gardner, Laurie MacAllister and Carolann Solebello in support of their new album, “James.” 6pm. Free.

MUSIC: Keith Pray’s Big Soul Ensemble @ the Van Dyck, Schenectady. Saxman Pray and his wailing big band have moved their first-Tuesday-of-the-month jazz gig to Schenectady. 8pm. Free.
