When Playing for Change – a kind of music United Nations with 10 bandmembers representing seven different countries from around the globe – rolled into The Egg last October, it was one of the most uplifting concerts of the year. Well, they’re headed back to Nippertown for a concert at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Friday, June 11 with most of the same members – including blind New Orleans street singer Grandpa Elliott, Louis Mhlanga (the fabulous guitarist from Zimbabwe) and the charismatic South African singer Titi Tsira. Tix are all general admission and are just $15.

I Think I Love You! David Cassidy serves up a benefit concert for the fine folks at the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, as the big attraction at their seventh annual Summer Paw Picnic. The picnic begins at 11am on Saturday, August 14, with the concert starting up at 4pm. It all takes place at the Waldorf Farm in North Chatham. Advance tix are $60; $10 for children under 12; at the gate, tix will be $70; $15 for kids.

There’s a big triple-header benefit for WGXC Community Radio on tap at Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, June 19. Brooklyn’s the Weight, Sub Pop recording artists Happy Birthday and old-school honky tonkers J.P. Harris & the Tough Choices. Showtime is 9pm, and tix are $12 in advance; $15 at the door.

Diane Birch has snagged the opening act slot for Joan Armatrading at The Egg in Albany on Wednesday, July 14.
