Real Good for Free: Troy’s Rockin’ on the River Concert Series

The schedule for the third annual Rockin’ On the River concert series in Troy has been announced. The 10-concert series will once again take place just off River Street behind Ryan’s Wake, Jose Malone’s, Brown’s Brewing Co. and Revolution Hall. The concerts take place from 5-8pm on Wednesday evenings. And, yes, admission is free. More info is available at the City of Troy’s Facebook page.

Opening acts will be announced shortly – and one of them could be your band. The City of Troy is sponsoring a competition for a local band to kick off the 2010 concert series as the opening act for U2 tribute band Unforgettable Fire on Wednesday, June 23.

Bands should submit an original song (or songs) on CD to Jeff Pirro or Vito Ciccarelli at Troy City Hall, 1776 Sixth Ave., Troy, NY 12180. The deadline for submissions is Friday, June 4. Good luck!

Here’s the schedule:

July 7: Hair of the Dog
July 14: Aquanett
July 21: Albert Cummings
July 28: 40 oz. to Freedom
