Aaron Smith’s Scientific Maps are back with their new seven-song EP, “Food For Witches,” and they’ll be celebrating with a big shebang at Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany at 9pm on Friday.

The follow-up to last year’s Scientific Maps’ CD, “Galvanic Wizardry,” the new disc was recorded at Collar City Sound in Troy between April, 2008-March, 2010, and it’s being released on the fine B3nson Recording Company label.

In addition to a rather rare live performance by Scientific Maps, the evening’s festivities will also feature Man Scouts (an all-star combo comprised of members from Sgt. Dunbar and the Hobo Banned, Beware! the Other Head of Science, Spread ‘Em and Boston Celtics) and NYC-based stand-up comedian Bill Chambers.

If you’re headed out to the show – and, really, why wouldn’t you be? – Man Scouts are requesting you bring along a flashlight…preferably one that blinks.

Sounds mighty promising, doesn’t it?
