David Garrett’s “Flight of the Bumble Bee”

Hunky German violinist David Garrett – who makes his area debut at The Egg in Albany on Friday – is the latest in a long line of classical-pop crossover artists. You know, the kind that have their own PBS specials. Well, Garrett’s got one of those, but more importantly, he also made an appearance on “Oprah” last month.

His self-titled debut album finds him sawing away at a repertoire that ranges from Bach to Metallica, from Vivaldi to Michael Jackson. And, oh yeah, he also apparently claims the title of “world’s fastest violinist,” according the Guinness Book of World Records:

Garrett does his thing at The Egg at 8pm Friday. Tix are $29.50. Oh gosh, is that the same night that Michael Bolton is at Proctors? Decisions, decisions, decisions…
