But I also have problems with the very idea of conventionalizing something so noisy, combustible and disruptive that one important purpose is to piss off your parents. I said as much in a presumptuous note to Ahmet Ertegun, chair of the committee that created the Hall. I suggested that instead of some museum-ish, dignified space, it should be stuffed inside a giant, noisy bar, like Blueberry Hill in St. Louis or Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa.
