Old Songs in Voorheesville does a lot more than just host a concert series and the annual end-of-June blowout the Old Songs Festival of Traditional Music and Dance.
And one of those other things is hosting group music classes. The spring session of classes begins on Monday, March 8, and there are quite a few possibilities to choose from, including:
Peggy Minore‘s Beginning Piano Accordion
George Ward‘s Hands-On Music Theory, Irish Pennywhistle Repertoire
Susan Trump‘s Beginning Mountain Dulcimer, Intermediate Mountain Dulcimer
Dave Kiphuth‘s Clawhammer Banjo
Roger Mock‘s Intermediate Open-Tuned Guitar
Eric Everson‘s Irish Guitar Accompaniment
Mike Otis‘ Mandolin I, Mandolin II
George Wilson‘s Intermediate Northern Fiddle
Steve Fry‘s Learn Easy Quebecois Tunes
Classes run for six weeks and cost $110. Deadline for registration is Friday, March 5.
And if a six-week committment sounds like too much to you, Old Songs is also hosting a pair of one-day workshops on Saturday, March 13:
Jane Rothfield‘s Old Time Fiddle Workshop
David Kiphuth‘s Clawhammer Banjo Workshop
Both workshops run from 3-5pm on Saturday, March 13, and registration is $40.
NOTE – Both Rothfield and Kiphuth will join up with Allan Carr and Linda Schrade to perform a concert as Red Hen at Old Songs later that same night, 8pm on Saturday, March 13.
