ArtBeat: Calls For Entries

Artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region 2010: The oldest regional juried art show in the country happens from Friday, October 1, 2010 through Sunday, December 12, 2010, hosted for the first time by The Hyde Collection, Glens Falls.

Charles Desmarais, Deputy Director for Art at the Brooklyn Museum since 2005, will serve as guest juror. As many as 300 living artists are expected to submit works, in a variety of media, from which approximately fifty will be selected for the exhibition. Eligible artists include those who reside within a 100-mile radius of either Glens Falls or the Capital Region. The deadline for entries is March 26, 2010. Awards will be announced at the exhibition’s opening reception scheduled for October 1, 2010.

Art from the Heart for Haiti: The Mimosa Gallery in Saratoga Springs has issued a call for entries for this group show, with 25% of of the proceeds going to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. The show will run from February 19 to March 28. All media will be considered. Work must have been completed in the past year. Work may be submitted by email or you may make an appointment. “Reflections” Art Contest: Christ’s Church of the Capital District is hosting an art contest and exhibit from February 17th – April 4th, 2010. The exhibit dates coincide with the Lent/Easter season to help stimulate reflection. Participation in is free and open to all ages of the general public. Submissions need not be religious in nature. Any artwork that stimulates reflection is welcomed. Artwork will be judged according to: artistic quality and reflective content. A list of prizes, details and registration available at
