Tony DeSare, What Was the First Album You Ever Bought?

TonyDeSare“That I actually bought myself with my own money? Yeah, I do remember, but it wasn’t a jazz album. It was Billy Joel‘s ‘Storm Front.’ I was about 14 years old at the time and had been playing piano for a couple of years.

One of the things that I grew up on was listening to a couple of Billy Joel albums that my dad had. Then the new one came out, ‘Storm Front,’ and it had that song, ‘And So It Goes,’ on it. I loved the piano-vocal thing, so that was the first album that I ever purchased.”

Jazz singer-pianist Tony DeSare plays a stand of homecoming concerts at the Charles Wood Theater in Glens Falls Friday-Sunday (November 27-29).
