Song of the Week: “Time Is Tight”

Today is the 65th birthday of the great Booker T. Jones, and we thought we’d mark the occasion by hosting a little Nippertown rip through one of our all-time favorite songs.

    Wow, “cruising” is right.
Hearing this made me want to drive faster, and I’m not even in my car.
Wasn’t it Pete Townsend who said Steve “the Colonel” Cropper was the greatest guitarist in the world?
Those guys watching from the wings: aren’t they most of Creedence Clearwater Revival? Birthday props to Booker T., and to Nippertown for showing us this ultra-cool clip.

I think you’re right about the CCR guys at the 50 second mark. I also like how the tape self-destructs but then comes back – it adds even more tension to the performance.

When the high part kicks in, it’s one of the most miraculous sounds I’ve ever heard.
