11/4: Today’s Tips: Wednesday

SPOKEN WORD: Nicole Peyrafitte @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs: Poet, performance artist and a damned fine cook, too, the charming, adventurous Peyrafitte returns to Nippertown as the featured reader at Lena’s monthly open mic night for poets. 7pm. $3.

MUSIC: Pete Yorn with Alberta Cross @ The Egg, Albany: Pop-rockin’ singer-songwriter Yorn has released two albums this year – “Back and Fourth” and a duet album with Scarlett Johansson, “Break Up.” We’re guessing that Scarlett won’t show up at The Egg tonight, though. 7:30pm. $28.

MUSIC: Deer Tick with Jonny Corndawg @ Revolution Hall, Troy: Hopefully, you saw the documentary film, “Deer Tick: To the City of Sin!” at the Saratoga Arts Center last night. Now see the band live in all of their rollicking, whiskey-soaked glory. Doors open at 7pm. $15.

FILM: “The Edge of Never” @ the Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany: A one-night only screening of this extreme skiing documentary and coming of age saga. Prizes and giveaways, too. 7pm. $20; children $10.
