Be Here Now: “Dancing on the Air” @ The Linda

The monthly gathering of Jay Ungar, Molly Mason and the Dancing on the Air Orchestra (aka, Peter Davis and Sam Zucchini) at The Linda in Albany is always worth a visit. It’s an acoustic extravaganza that can stretch from bluegrass to jazz, from blues to country at the drop of a beat.

And each month, there are different special guests, making each evening, well, special. This week – at 8pm Wednesday, July 8 – “Dancing on the Air” makes it a little extra special, as the guest list includes Jane Rothfield (of such old-timey ensembles as Red Hen, Jane’s Gang, Atlantic Bridge and more), Italian guitar dazzler Beppe Gambetta and the utterly delightful, foot-stomping, banjo-thrumming, Woodstock-based, award-winning singer-songwriter Kelleigh McKenzie, whose album “Chances” was one of my favorites of last year.

If that’s not enough of a reason to get you over to The Linda, the theater is now partnering with the Food Pantries of the Capital District as part of their Tins for Tickets program. So now you can bring along a canned good item or two and get a $2 discount off of the regular $12 ticket price.
