Albany’s Muddy Cup Open Mic closed

It’s Monday, and if you’re planning on heading over to Albany’s Muddy Cup for the weekly open mic night tonight, it looks like you’re going to have to make other plans.

The open mic session – voted No. 1 in town in Metroland’s Readers’ Poll – has been rolling along for more than three years, 150 nights and somewhere around 3,500 performances since it began in 2006, but organizers Josh Okun, Tom Teta and Matt Delgado announced last week on the CRUMBS blog that they’re parting company with the Muddy Cup.

“We would like to emphasize that we are not throwing in the towel by any means. We are moving on. We will be back with a new event at a new location to be named in the NEAR future,” they wrote.

In the meantime, you can keep in touch with them at Can’t Cash Entertainment and cantcashentertainment@gmail.com.

I used to love that open mic, Josh, Tom and Matt are all great dudes. I kind of wish I had known they were calling it quits for a minute so I could have made it out to the last one. Oh well, I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for their new open mic.
