Here are some of this week’s new additions to the upcoming Nippertown concert calendar:
Kitty’s back! Or rather Bruce is back. Yes, just a couple of weeks after Springsteen’s sold-out concert at the Times Union Center, it’s been announced that he’s bringing the E Street Band back to town for a show at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center at 8pm Tuesday, August 25. Reserved amphitheater seats will run you $104, while lawn admission is $41. Tix go on sale at 10am Thursday, June 11. Get ’em while you can…
And apparently the folks at Live Nation know something that I don’t know. They think comedian/actor/singer Jamie Foxx can pull a crowd into the Times Union Center on Saturday, August 22. General public folks can get their hands on the tix at 10am Saturday, June 13.
As reported earlier, hard-rockin’ supergroup Chickenfoot – led by a couple of guys left out of last year’s aborted Van Halen reunion – will let it all fly at the Palace Theatre on Tuesday, August 18. Opening the show will be British blues-rockers Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam.
Actually, that will be Back Door Slam’s second area show of the summer. The lads will also be invading Valentine’s on Wednesday, July 8 for a special WEXT-FM birthday party. In addition, the blues-rockin’ power trio are celebrating the release of their new album, “Coming Up for Air,” produced by Peter Frampton.
And we here at Nippertown are just about as excited as we can get that one of our faves is coming to town – twice. Melancholy mope-core master Mark Eitzel brings a marvelously minimalist performance – just the American Music Club vocalist accompanied by pianist Marc Capelle – to Jason’s Upstairs Bar in Hudson (Sunday, July 19) and the Linda in Albany (Wednesday, July 22).
Other upcoming shows at the Linda feature a CRUMBS Nite Out with Sean Rowe (Thursday, July 23) and blues guitar great Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters (Saturday, August 8).
And new shows on the calendar for The Egg in Albany include bluesman Keb’ Mo’ (Sunday, Oct. 25) and comedian Daniel Tosh (Saturday, November 14).
