Be Here Now: Blue Hand Luke @ Revolution Hall

There’s one more Blue Friday on tap at Revolution Hall in Troy.

Nippertown rockers Blue Hand Luke have been doing it every Friday night this month – teaming up with another prominent local combo for a double-barreled party at Rev Hall. For the final Blue Friday – May 29, which conveniently enough coincides with the Troy Night Out arts walk – they’ve upped the ante, bringing along not one, but two bands to share the stage – Ramblin Jug Stompers and the Twisted String Band.

Blue Hand Luke leader/saxman supreme Luke McNamee knows the Jug Stompers’ repertoire well. He’s been a regular special guest at the RJS monthly Tess’ Lark Tavern gigs, sitting in on such diverse tunes as “St. James Infirmary,” “Girl Made in Japan” and “Foggy Mountain Breakdown.” (Yeah you really haven’t lived until you’ve heard Luke’s ferocious sax wailin over the top of some runaway bluegrass instrumental.

The festivities get underway at 8:30pm Friday.
