According to the Hunger Action Network of New York State, more than 40,000 people turn to one of the local Capital Region food pantries each month. And in these hard times that number is rapidly rising.
Which means that the Hunger Action Network’s annual fundraiser for its many emergency food programs is more important than ever this year. The 19th annual “Feast for Famine” takes place at The Egg at the Empire State Plaza in Albany from 5:30-8pm Wednesday, May 13.
The event will feature plenty of food and beverages from more than 30 local restaurants, breweries, etc.: Justin’s, Debbie’s Kitchen, Olde Saratoga Brewing Co., Honest Weight Food Co-Op, the Dakota Steakhouse, Rock Hill Bakehouse, Moon & River Cafe, Brookstone Station Winery, Miss Albany Diner and lots of others.
There’s also a silent auction and live music by Nippertown folk queen Terri Roben, who will spotlight selections from her latest CD, “The Path We Make,” which runs the stylistic gamut from acappella to jug band.
Tickets are $45 (more if you can afford it; less if you can’t), available at here.
